What Is A Treatment Like?
During treatment, your skin will be cleansed to remove oils. (Oils can dampen the effectiveness of an MC treatment). The skin may undergo a light exfoliation treatment followed by a serum, gel, or other water-based product. The product will help attract the current into the skin and muscles.
There is no pain during the treatment although sometimes if the current is too strong your muscles might twitch or jump (the intensity will be turned down). In general, you won’t feel much more than a slight tingle.
Is Microcurrent Safe?
Microcurrent has been used safely and effectively since the 70s. It is FDA approved to treat Bells’ palsy and muscle paralysis. It can be used on all skin types. However, if you have a pacemaker, metal implants, open sores, or severe acne, MC isn’t recommended. Microcurrent has also not been tested on women who are pregnant, therefore it should be avoided.
If you’ve recently had facial fillers or Botox you will likely not benefit from microcurrent.

Micro-current has an accumulative effect. The way to benefit the most is 2-3 treatments a week. Because most people aren’t able to get to the spa that often, an at-home-microcurrent device is recommended.

The number 1 tip I can give before you arrive at your facial appointment is to come hydrated. (Start the day before and try to avoid dehydrating drinks such as alcohol.)Electricity is attracted to water. If you are dehydrated the treatment won’t be as effective and it will take more sessions to see results.

• Unexplained sores on soles of feet
