Gua Sha (pronounced gwa sha) performed at Zen Body & Skin in Henderson, NV has the power to transform your skin from the inside out. This ancient Chinese beauty secret utilizes a specially designed tool (usually made from jade stone or quartz) to gently reawaken your skin’s own miraculous ability to heal itself. The gua sha tool assists in unblocking stagnant qi (vital energy in Traditional Chinese Medicine) and redirecting energy flow. Gua sha is a holistic non-invasive way to bring youth and vitality back into your skin.
I offer three different options for a gua sha treatment. You can also combine a mini session with a full body massage in the Holistic Self Love Massage and Gua Sha package. To see our current menu and pricing visit Request An Appointment.
A daily ritual of gua sha has been shown to improve microcirculation by up to 400%. Circulation is vital to your skin’s health and beauty. The gua sha along with a customized selection of Chinese and/or Ayurvedic herbs and oils leaves the skin with an immediate healthy glow.
Connect with nature, transform your skin, & enhance overall wellness.
Zen Body and Skin is trained in the Nefeli gua sha treatment. A treatment designed by well-known Chinese Acupuncturist, herbalist, and author of Anti-Aging Therapy, Ping Zhang, Ph.D., LAc. The protocol stimulates acupuncture points and meridians of youth to activate the body’s self-healing powers to repair aging and remove certain toxins that cause aging.
Although you will likely see immediate results with one treatment, a series of treatments is recommended along with home care. Your esthetician at Zen Body & Skin will be happy to show you simple techniques that you can incorporate into your nightly beauty routine at home.
Gua sha is a slow beauty technique and a holistic alternative to Botox. Although you can not expect the immediate results Botox can provide, overtime gua sha has been shown to soften fine lines and wrinkles. It also does not come with side effects such as the “frozen face” feeling.
Botox only treats the symptoms of aging, TCM seeks to treat the root cause. The focus is to improve the actual health of your skin and naturally reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and many other skin issues.
Gua sha on the face is much more gentle. Its main purpose is to stimulate lymphatic flow (which only requires gentle pressure), increase circulation, and calm the nervous system. A treatment on the face is rhythmic and relaxing. You will not have the red marks you see with body scraping but instead leave with a healthy glow.
